Portland craft beverage enthusiasts can rejoice—another option to drink your dessert has officially entered the market today. The Rose City’s Sunshine Dairy Foods and Moonstruck Chocolate Co. have released the Moonstruck Drinking Chocolate by Sunshine Dairy, in a post-Feast collaboration. Nearly 5,000 ounces of the drinking chocolate was poured at the food and drink celebration and is now available at Portland and Seattle retailers, including Whole Foods, New Seasons, QFC, Green Zebra, Zupan’s and more.
A departure from traditional chocolate milk (cocoa powder blended into milk), European-rooted drinking chocolate is produced by mixing chocolate ganache with whole milk. In the case of the Moonstruck Drinking Chocolate, the ganache in this sipper combines the same chocolate and cocoa liquor that Moonstruck uses to make their rich truffles, with Sunshine Dairy’s unctuous whole milk. Silky and hedonistic, this liquid chocolate sunshine soothes the palate while appeasing the sweet tooth and the kid in all of us.
