Montgomery Distillery Whyte Laydie Gin

“We went partially mad in our quest to build this harmonious dry gin according to time-honored standards,” writes Jenny Montgomery on the label of The Whyte Laydie Dry Gin, crafted by family-owned and -operated Montgomery Distillery of Missoula, Montana. The gin is named for the dusty Fairbanks White Laydie No. 7 banjo that Montgomery’s father emptied the family bank account to purchase in 1966.

This crystal-clear 80-proof spirit, distilled from Montana grain and cut with Montana water, reflects classic London Dry stylings, with Rocky Mountain juniper taking center stage amid a chorus of locally grown and imported botanicals including orris and angelica root, yarrow, grains of paradise, cardamom, elderflower and even bee balm. The distillate comes across elegant and aromatic, with layered floral and lemon elements to be found on the palate and a clean, crisp, citrusy finish.
