Summer Livin’ in Leavenworth
Greetings, from Leavenworth! The folks in Washington’s Bavarian-themed retreat are prepping for a mountainous day of bikes, beers, wine and shopping.
Both occurring on June 1, the 16th Annual Bavarian Bike and Brews Festival, and the 11th Annual Leavenworth Wine Walk will be one of the year’s largest celebrations for the town tucked in the scenic Cascade Mountains of central Washington.
The day begins at the starting line of the Bavarian Bike and Brews Festival in the Fruend Canyon, just a few miles north from the downtown Leavenworth. Beginner-level racers will be the first to leave the starting line at 9 a.m., and traverse the more than eight-mile loop through trails, creek crossings and beautiful mountain scenery.
Once completing the race, it’ll be about time for a cold one. So relax, and enjoy a beer stein from Iron Horse Brewery in the on-site beer garden with live music. This year, the festival has partnered with the “Fat Tire Revolution Series,” a racing series throughout Washington whose mission is to bring back the days of fun and laid back mountain biking.
To get a taste of city-life in Leavenworth, the 11th Annual Wine Walk is another special occasion to enjoy. Help support agricultural tourism in North Central Washington by taking a stroll through Leavenworth, from noon to 6 p.m. On your walk, enjoy shopping, live music and wade your way through the 60 different wines to taste including juice from Jones of Washington, Kestrel Vintners, Icicle Ridge Winery and many more.
Also making an appearance will be Sip Northwest’s winner for Best Perry, Snowdrift Hard Cider Company.
On your way in, grab a Wine Walk Passport to get coupons for your stroll and have a chance to win some prizes.
