Job Posting: Cidermaker

by | Jun 24, 2020

Seminary Hill Orchard and Cidery needs an experienced, full-time, on-site cidermaker beginning mid-summer or late summer 2020. This is a great opportunity for a collaborative, creative and fruit-focused cidermaker.

Seminary Hill is located in Callicoon, New York (western Sullivan County) on a hill overlooking the Delaware River. We have 12 acres of apple and pear trees planted – American heirlooms, as well as classic French and English cider varieties. All are grown holistically and were planted in the last six years.

Our goal is to make fine cider focused on the fruit we grow, and we seek a cidermaker who will help us achieve that goal. Our cidermaker will also be flexible – pitching in to tend the orchard, helping market our product, and assisting in running events at our on-site wedding/conference venue as we grow and add staff. In particular, knowledge of fruit growing and cider varieties is a definite plus, and we hope our cidermaker will have both the ability and desire to work in the orchard.

We also welcome inquiries from candidates with a background in winemaking (and in particular sparkling wine), so long as they also have a willingness to expand that knowledge into cider.

While we target summer 2020 as a start date, we are flexible and the start date could be a bit later for the right person.

Compensation will be competitive.
