Jackson Family Wines Welcomes Big Salt to Its Oregon Family

by | Mar 2, 2026

McMinnville, OR – March 2, 2026 – Jackson Family Wines today announced it has welcomed Oregon-based winery Big Salt into its family of wineries.

Founded in 2016 by John and Ksenija House, Big Salt has earned a devoted following for wines that are vibrant, place-driven, and refreshingly unpretentious. Inspired by Oregon’s terroir and crafted with minimal intervention, the wines are known for their energy, texture, and unmistakable sense of place, salty, aromatic, and joyfully alive.

For Jackson Family Wines, the decision to acquire with Big Salt was rooted in shared values: respect for growers, long-term thinking, and a commitment to letting distinctive voices stay distinctive.

John and Ksenija will remain deeply involved in both winemaking and brand stewardship, and existing growers and vineyard partners will remain unchanged. The goal is simple, to keep what makes Big Salt special, while giving the brand the support to grow thoughtfully and sustainably.

“From the beginning, Big Salt has been about capturing Oregon’s energy of place and making wines that feel honest, alive, and meant to be shared,” said John House, founder of Big Salt. “Jackson Family Wines gives us the ability to grow without compromising our values, our people, or our process. We get to stay us and bring these wines to more tables.”

Big Salt’s approach reflects an Old-World sensibility with a distinct Pacific Northwest point of view. The wines are crafted using organic and sustainable farming practices, extended lees aging, and co-fermentation of white grape varieties to create a collective expression of place rather than a single varietal statement.

“Big Salt is exactly the kind of winery we want to see more of in the world,” said Chris Jackson, co-proprietor of Jackson Family Wines. “John and Ksenija have built something honest and deliberate. Wines that are high-quality but unpretentious, rooted in place, and designed to spark curiosity. They’ve created a fresh, modern take on white blends that’s resonating with a new generation of drinkers. We’re here to back their vision, not rewrite it, and help Big Salt grow in a way that still feels true to who they are.”

The Big Salt portfolio includes four wines, all produced under a consistent philosophy of sustainability and minimal intervention. The first releases under Jackson Family Wines, Big Salt and PNK Salt, will debut March 1 in major U.S. markets, with Old Love and Big Salt Orange Rosé to follow in early summer.

About Big Salt

Launched in 2016 by John House and Ksenija Kostic House, as an extension of their Ovum brand, started in 2011. Known for its cult following and accessible price points, Big Salt delivers expressive, textural wines that overdeliver on quality while remaining true to Oregon terroir. The portfolio includes four core wines: Big Salt, PNK Salt, Big Salt Orange Rosé, and Old Love, each produced with a consistent philosophy focused on transparency, energy, and sense of place. Rooted in Old World sensibility, yet distinctly Pacific Northwest in character, the wines evoke a day at the beach: salty, aromatic, textured, and joyfully vibrant.
