Honey Moon Rhubarb CiderHead

by | Jul 29, 2014

Cherished locally for its original lineup of meads (and more recently, its addition of hard cider), Bellingham, Wash.-based Honey Moon is now bottling the lovechild of its classic CiderHead hard apple cider and fruit-infused honey wine.

In its tasting room location—somewhat of a hidden treasure, nestled in an alleyway behind downtown sidewalks—Honey Moon lists the hybrid cider creation as part of its Cyser selection. Now available in 750ml bottles, the fruity CiderHead lineup is two parts classic sparkling cider blended with one part either rhubarb, honey or raspberry-infused mead.

The Rhubarb Ciderhead itself does away with added sugar, leaving a fresh, acidic flavor courtesy of local Bellewood Acres apples. Rhubarb adds a tang that is balanced by the apples’ mild sweetness, while the raspberry and honey varieties finish slightly sweeter. No matter the flavor, each fruity CiderHead finishes dry with a higher alcohol content provided by the touch of mead—and you can bet each ingredient is locally sourced and processed before it ever reaches your glass.
