Georgetown Brewing Company purchases Timber City Ginger Beer

by | Oct 22, 2024

Georgetown Brewing is proud to welcome Timber City Ginger our family.

Seattle, WA – Timber City Ginger started in 2014 when Kara and Kyle McKnight set out to create a dry, ginger forward, farmer-driven ginger beer. They sold their first bottles at a Seattle farmers market, selling out in 90 minutes. After that, they quit their jobs and started making ginger beer full time, growing a local following with their “OG” Timber City.

Ginger beer is not a new category for Georgetown Brewing. Timber City’s alcoholic hard ginger beer and n/a ginger beer have been available in our taproom, and their innovative seasonal flavor profiles have been especially popular with guests. When Kara and Kyle were looking for a way to grow the Timber City brand, Georgetown Brewing seemed like a perfect fit.

“Kyle and I have been running this ginger beer engine pretty much on our own for 10 years now,” said Kara. “So many highs and lows, but overall it has been an absolute honor to build a brewing business in the glorious greater Western Washington.

“We are so honored to pass along all we have built to an incredible, local company that upholds the same principles we do: a love for our state and what it grows, tireless dedication to supporting Washington’s economy, a commitment to brewing and sharing quality products, and most importantly, a champion in community building.

“The team at Georgetown will help grow our spicy little beverage company the right way.”

“Roger and I have been fans of Timber City Ginger Beer ever since we started serving their beers in our tasting room,” said Georgetown co-owner Manny Chao. “It was the very first product we offered in our tasting room that was not our own.

“Kyle and Kara are local, they are awesome, and their Ginger Beer is super darn tasty! We really believe in what they started and we’re hoping to use our strengths to spread Timber City Ginger Beer regionally around the Pacific Northwest. It’s a perect fit for us. Thank you Kara and Kyle for trusting us with the future of your company!”

Georgetown Brewing will continue to make the high quality ginger beer that customers have come to expect. We are excited about the opportunity to introduce both hard ginger beer and n/a ginger beer to a broader audience looking for locally made choices in both on premise and off premise accounts.

Timber City is currently available at over 300 grocery stores, bars and restaurants throughout Western Washington.
