CHIMACUM, WA — September 21 — This fall, Finnriver Farm & Cidery joyfully marks its 15th anniversary, celebrating a spirited journey rooted in love for the land, community collaboration and craft fermentation. In honor of this milestone, Finnriver is throwing a 15th Anniversary Community Party! Sunday, September 21st, friends and neighbors of all ages are invited to play in a hot air balloon out in the Finnriver field beginning at noon, share in a community toast at 4:30, then eat free birthday cake and boogie to live music.
Founded in 2010 by Crystie and Keith Kisler and Eric Jorgensen, Finnriver began as an experiment in community-based agriculture and cidermaking with organic and foraged fruit. Andrew Byers joined as cider maker and co-owner in 2013, and Amanda Oborne as CEO and co-owner in 2024.
“We didn’t know exactly what it would become,” reflects Crystie Kisler, “but we knew what we hoped it could be. We arrived at Finnriver with a deep commitment to education and to building community on the land.” From the beginning, the founders drew inspiration from ecological ethics and land-based traditions, including a line from poet Marge Piercy: “Let us make our gardens half artful and half wild to match our love.” This quote continues to echo through the culture of Finnriver and remains etched on stemware to this day.
That commitment to land has been woven into all the layers of Finnriver. In 2015, Finnriver became the first Certified B Corp cidery in the United States, signifying a commitment to meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The B Corp certification process evaluates how a business impacts its workers, customers, community, and the environment. This certification reflects Finnriver’s long-standing mission to utilize business as a force for good — reconnecting people to the land, cultivating community, and supporting a thriving local food system.
Finnriver continues to craft award-winning cider made with organic fruit and wild foraged botanicals. This spring it launched two new ciders in cans – Blush, with a kiss of black currant, and Bloom, a sweet ode to Finnriver’s history as a blueberry farm. A special, limited edition strawberry cider will be released for the anniversary party on September 21st.
“Finnriver has always been in humble and grateful relationship to the land that sustains us,” Kisler says. “As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also renewing our vows — to care for people and place, to create with integrity, and to serve the land with cider.”
The public is invited to celebrate with Finnriver this fall on September 21st. More details here.
