Eastside Distilling Cherry Bomb Whiskey

by | Jun 6, 2014

In a sea of copper liquors at last month’s Whiskeyfest NW in Portland, one of the more colorful characters drawing attention from Eastside Distilling’s epicentral booth was the joyfully jewel-toned Cherry Bomb Whiskey. Already recognized for their masterful combinations of berries and booze, Eastside sidesteps overly finicky fruit-spirit final products, instead drawing powerful flavor from all-natural ingredients to provide a sturdy backbone for straight sipping or a spin on classic cocktails.

Cherry Bomb showcases the expected fruit juiciness up front while darker red grape flavors complicate the whiskey’s ever-present base heat on the palate. Stone fruit sweetness (undeniably reminiscent of pie homemade from scratch) matches up with touches of barrel-imbued vanilla and spice on the lingering, Manhattan-ready finish.
