The Bible’s “Book of Isaiah” preaches to its readers that there is no rest for the wicked. But what about when that wicked is a cider? Does that mean sleep-with-one-eye-open, endless flow and continual production? If that’s the case, then Daniel Washam and his wife Heidi of Sun River Vintners better get ready—their new venture of d’s Wicked Cider has kicked off in the greater Tri-Cities of Washington, and news of this sinful sipper has spread west of the mountains. With one cider released to start the line, the Baked Apple cider is simply as advertised. Heaps of cinnamon, the aromas of this cider tinker with scents of numerous nostalgia like snickerdoodles, apple crisp and even banana bread, but the underlying tone of baked apple is nonnegotiable. Succulent and sinewy on the palate, this cider teeters between semi-sweet and semi-dry with a mouthfeel that would satisfy beer drinkers and a spicy, chewy finish full of flavor.
