We Dig: Spring Beer Fests

by | May 20, 2014

Nothing complements a scorching day like an ice cold beer. To help you beat the heat and quench your thirst, brewers and beer lovers from around the Pacific Northwest are hosting a bounty of beer-focused events throughout the month of June. Clear your calendars and kick-off summer with these beer-ific festivals and activities.

City-Spanning Suds: Vancouver has seen the opening of several new breweries over the past few years, with new ones springing up all the time. To commemorate Vancouver’s microbrewery movement, the city is celebrating with a week dedicated to craft suds, May 30-June 7, during Vancouver Craft Beer Week (VCBW). With more than 60 featured breweries and nine days of hopped up goodness, there are plenty of ways to celebrate suds. Don’t miss opening night on Friday, May 30 at Gossip Night Club where featured breweries include Bridge Brewing Company, Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers, Driftwood Brewery, Red Truck Beer Company, and many, many more. The week continues with a Collaboration Throwdown between New Belgium Brewing and Steamworks Brewing, Hoppapalooza, Craft Beer Bingo night and more. Check VCBW’s calendar of events to purchase tickets and map out your week-long itinerary.

Statewide Brew: Seattle Beer Week has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the Emerald City doesn’t have an arsenal of other beer-centric events lined up for summer. Beer lovers can celebrate Washington sourced suds during the 2014 Washington Brewers Festival, June 13-15. This unique, all ages festival is a great gift for the beer-loving dad in your family, as the festival falls on Father’s Day weekend. Featuring more than 300 beers from 88 Washington-based breweries, the festival is a favorite for summertime suds. Advance tickets are available now through Friday, June 13 here. For more information, visit the Washington Beer Commission’s website.

Green Ales: Fans of all-natural, organically made beers will flock to Portland on Thursday, June 26, for the 10th Annual North American Organic Brewers Festival. Thursday kicks off four days of celebrating the symbiotic relationship shared between organic beer and sustainability. Guests of this event will also love the live music and food vendors featured at the festival. More than 35 breweries will be on-site pouring pints of their finest for the festival. Featured brewing include Falling Sky Brewing, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Pints Brewing and many more. Event admission is free. For more details about this event, visit the festival’s website here.

A summer full of beer-centered events is just beginning. Don’t miss out on the tastes, sights and sounds happening next month across the Pacific Northwest.
