We Dig: On-the-Go Accessory Roundup

by | Aug 26, 2014

Whether you’re sipping on our on-the-go beer, wine or summer cocktail suggestions, we’re rounding out August’s travel ready dig-ables by rounding up a few of our favorite gear and supply picks to pack before you hit the road. Functionality? Check. Attitude? Check. Your favorite portable beverage requires an equally worthy vessel.

Flasks and travel bottles:

Based in Bend, Ore., the makers of Hydro Flask know the importance of a cold drink outside the refrigerator, especially on a long, sweaty trek to your favorite outdoor destination. No matter the size, color or function of the bottle you choose, each one is BPA-free, made from high-quality stainless steel and built to keep your beverage cold for up to 24 hours. For added flare, Portland-based Trixie & Milo designs functional flasks with an edge. The husband and wife team combines their “two favorite things: drinking and art” to handcraft unique collections for the ladies, dudes, wedding party and raunchy-minded.

Glasses on the go:

When it comes to wine, champagne, beer and cocktails on-the-go, no need to sacrifice elegance for practicality. Govino flutes, decanters, wine, cocktail and beer glasses are stylish yet shatterproof. Made from food-safe, BPA-free polymer, these “glasses” look similar to your favorite stemware, minus the potential for disaster. Searching for some college-era nostalgia? Red Cup Living is reinventing the wheel with its reusable, break-resistant party ware. Sustainable living makes its mark on the classic fraternity lawn, typically scattered with trashed Solo cups.

Minis for mixing:

For a fun-sized alternative to spirits on the go, dare to sift through the potpourri of 50 ml minis at your neighborhood liquor store or BevMo location. Scour and you may find smaller batch and Northwest-produced options such as American Harvest Organic Vodka, made independently in Rigby, Idaho, using water from aquifers below the Snake River plain. Pack and pour into a chilled bottle of your favorite craft soda or fruit juice for a quick, boozy refresher. Keep it local with any flavor from Oregon-based Vincent Family Cranberries or Seattle-based DRY Soda.

Cheers to great sips with great friends in the great outdoors!
