The Cider Renaissance at Taste Washington

by | Feb 13, 2015

AHEM. We’d like to take this time for a little self-promotion.

March is Taste Washington Wine Month, with the month capping off on Taste Washington, the nation’s largest single-region wine and food event, March 26-29. Over the course of four days, gastronome and enophiles alike can indulge in their culinary and sippable desires—with events ranging from the popular Grand Tasting (both Saturday and Sunday this year) to farm-tours, VIP events like the Red & White Party at AQUA by El Gaucho and The New Vintage at downtown’s luxurious Four Seasons Hotel to the expertly-crafted and staffed seminars.

Which leads us to our personal campaign—The Cider Renaissance seminar.

With stunning double-digit growth and unprecedented demand from consumers, cider has quickly become the fastest growing alcoholic beverage in the country, and Washington State is at the forefront of the movement.

In terms of history, this is the comeback of cider. For nearly 250 years, cider was truly America’s drink, and was produced by everyday citizens, as well as the Founding Fathers like George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. In this seminar, guests and panelists will taste through examples from the world over and learn how Washington plays a pivotal role in pushing cider to the forefront of the beverage world.

Our editor, Erin James, is set to sit on a panel for the seminar with Finnriver Farm and Cidery founder Crystie Kisler and Alan Shapiro, the mastermind behind the Cider Summit festivals. Moderated by beer cicerone, cider enthusiast and Washington Wine Commission marketing director David Flaherty, the Sunday morning seminar will cover a variety of historical, production and cultural topics of cider as well as a guided tasting through 10 different ciders from around the globe and in our backyard.

Jump on the fastest-growing beverage in U.S. history’s bandwagon and join in on this seminar! Get your tickets here!
