On Thursday, January 30, IL Bistro, the iconic bar and restaurant nestled in Pike Place Market, continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary in grand style. Five of the Diageo Top 100 World Class US Bartenders will take over the bar, each crafting a unique cocktail to honor a decade of IL Bistro’s rich history.
The Diageo Top 100 World Class US Bartenders is a recognition program that celebrates the skill, creativity, and expertise of bartenders across the country. It highlights the top professionals who excel in cocktail-making, innovation, and customer service, while pushing the boundaries of the bartending craft. These bartenders are selected through a rigorous competition, where they showcase their talent, passion, and commitment to the art of mixology. Seattle boasts the second-largest representation of Top 100 World Class Bartenders in the nation, making this event a celebration not just of IL Bistro’s legacy but also of the city’s vibrant cocktail culture.
Each bartender will take the stage during a one-hour slot between 5 PM and 10 PM, presenting their own signature cocktail inspired by a specific decade. Here’s the lineup of bartenders and their respective decades:
· 5:00 PM – Mark Sassi (Canoe Ventures): 1970s
· 6:00 PM – Luke Hamilton (The Barrel Thief): 1980s
· 7:00 PM – Cameron MacDonald (Kro Bar Bothell): 1990s
· 8:00 PM – Joanna “Jojo” Kitchen (Rob Roy): 2000s
· 9:00 PM – Marie Yoshimizu (InterContinental Bellevue): 2010s
