Caffeination Cascadia: Five Northwest Coffee Instagrammers to Follow

by | Jul 13, 2015

Coffee is an Instagrammable beverage, as evidenced by the near-obligatory posting of it by Instagrammers of all kinds. Whether you’re seated at a sidewalk café with a freshly poured, rosetta-topped latte, or watching cream mixing in curlicues into cold brew, it practically calls out for a picture. That said, some accounts make coffee their main subject, and do an especially good job capturing coffee in all its forms. Some of them may be using their Instagram accounts as a stepping stone to launch a coffee business of their own. Because of this dream, posting pictures that are in the interest of their audience could help them to get instagram followers in plenty of time, so they are able to build upon this success. But for now, they’re just enjoying showcasing these pictures to their followers. Of course, if any other coffee lovers wanted to start their own Instagram account, they could always consider buying some followers to get their page started. There are many companies that offer this sort of service, such as Social captain, but it’s important to find one that is safe and reliable. Make sure to do some research beforehand. With more followers, coffee lovers will be able to post multiple pictures and videos of their favorite coffees. For inspiration, take a look at some of the best coffee accounts. From those picturing cafés to accounts that give a glimpse into coffee growers’ lives and regions, here are five of my favorite Northwest coffee Instagrammers to follow.

@coffeeplantroaster: Eugene’s Coffee Plant Roaster is an espresso bar, juice bar and roastery all in one. As such, their eponymous Instagram account includes a smorgasbord of coffee, fresh fruits, colorful vegetables, homegrown herbs, enticing pastries, coffee-related quotes and quips, and video clips of the beans they roast daily.

@casestudycoffee: Portland’s Case Study Coffee Roasters posts beautifully composed close-ups of various brewing methods, and makes use of Instagram’s recently added video capability to share quick clips of things like the first drips of espresso pressing their way through the portafilter.

@marshallsteeves: Portland-based barista Marshall Steeves brings a design-informed photographer’s eye and a signature style to Instagramming the cafés of Portland and beyond. Spaces inspire him, and it shows in light, airy, perfectly composed shots accompanied by thoughtful commentary on each of the cafés pictured.

@vancoffee: If you’re looking to discover a new café hideaway in or around Vancouver (and occasionally Victoria), follow Vancouver Coffee on Instagram. Dedicated to supporting and spotlighting the city’s array of excellent coffee shops, the account includes shout-outs to each place pictured so you can track them down yourself.

@atlas_coffee: Though relatively infrequent posters, Seattle-based green coffee buyers Atlas Coffee Importers‘ Instagram account captures the regions the company sources beans from, along with the people who grow the coffee and some of the details of their lives.
