In a sea of many, the model mobile food truck can be almost as elusive a beast as the perfect cup of coffee. Start looking for the perfect coffee food cart and the search becomes nearly impossible. It almost makes you want to buy coffee van to get your own up and running so you have it on tap! Here are three clever Northwest coffee carts worth a goose chase.

Olé Latte Coffee – Portland || Why track down Olé Latte Coffee? Because you’re in the mood to do good. Olé has made local and regional news multiple times in just over a year as part of the Suspended Coffees movement, which began in Italy after World War I as a way to help returning soldiers afford their morning espresso. The movement lets cart customers pay in advance for an extra coffee that anyone can enjoy later. Portlanders have risen to the challenge of paying it forward, and today Olé Latte travels the city brightening cool fall days with steaming hot coffee from Ristretto Roasters.

On The Grind Café – Vancouver || Solar energy meets pedal-power to light and run the bike-drawn espresso machine that is On The Grind Café. The roaming coffee cart cruises the streets of downtown Vancouver “pedalling” fresh brew from Matchstick Coffee Roasters. With its side panels open for business the diminutive one-rider operation looks like a bulkily antiquated attempt at a flying machine, but offers a much more streamlined drink menu plus simple baked goods like banana and pumpkin breads.

The Mocha Medic – Bothell, Wash. || Sometimes a hot mocha is as good a medication as any. The barista-medics in charge of this ambulance café range across King and Snohomish Counties prescribing Seattle-roasted Caffé D’arte from their impressively espresso-outfitted, and highly realistic, emergency vehicle.
