Although he was set on the track to success in corporate America as a database engineer, Lopez decided to follow in his great-grandfather’s footsteps and brew classic sodas. Lopez’s predecessors created Waialua Soda Works on his family’s property in Haleiwa, Hawaii in the late 1800’s and the sodas are still distributed across the United States today. Since 2009, Lopez has been making old fashioned, 100 percent pure cane sugar sodas in Boise, Idaho.
