Beer-to-Go: Modern-made Growlers for Precious Cargo

by | Oct 29, 2013

The Northwest is a craft beer drinkers paradise, and with so many options when it comes to craft brews, it’s important that beer drinkers are equally equipped with a variety of vessels to get their suds from point A to B. As the craft-beer market continues to grow, alternatives to traditional growlers and other transportation containers become more popular, providing beer drinkers with a variety of options when it comes to transporting their beer.

MiiR, based out of Seattle, has introduced a contemporized version of the classic growler, perfect for a modern market. A BPA-free, vacuum insulated and threadless no-leak design makes this innovative growler the first of its kind. In addition to keeping your beer cold for up to 24 hours, each MiiR growler purchased raises funding for Growler for Good, a program providing one person with clean drinking water per each growler purchased.

Looking for something a little bit bigger? Ideal for small parties and outdoor concerts, the Party Pig holds just more than two gallons of your favorite beer. A reusable, “pig” shaped growler, the Party Pig’s self-pressurized chamber ensures a carbonated, quality draft with each pour. It really is as simple as, “Press, Pour and Enjoy!”

Geoffrey Franklin and his wife Valerie have been busy in Portland, creating bike-minded beer transportation for their Etsy shop, Walnut Studiolo. From a hand-stitched leather beer can cage for the bike to eco-friendly reusable six-pack bottle carriers and more, Walnut Studiolo makes transporting beer fashionable, trendy and environmentally friendly.

Also based out of Portland, Portland Growler Company features a variety of ceramic made slip-cast growlers. Offered in a variety of styles and colors, these handcrafted growlers come in the traditional 64 ounce size as well as a mini 32 ounce growlette version, perfect for sample size fill-ups.

Take a trip down memory lane with BeerPouch and enjoy your favorite adult beverage by way of packaging reminiscent of the silver pouches of Capri Sun mom used to pack with your lunch. This 64-ounce flexible growler is the perfect pack-along for a day at the park. Wholesale purchase of these convenient pouches are available on the BeerPouch website (10 pouches for $60), or purchase single pouches at participating retailers.

The Northwest is a thriving metropolis for all things craft beer, and as the microbrewing community grows larger, so does the selection of vessels in which we use to carry our suds. From parties to camping, beer-gear gifting ideas and more, try these innovative ways of serving up your favorite local brews.
