Apolloni Vineyards’ 2012 Dolce Vino Viognier

by | Dec 31, 2014

With more than 150 years of international winemaking traditions in Apolloni Vineyards’ family history, the Willamette Valley winery blends Old World Italian-style with New World Pacific Northwest flair to craft some truly unique and expressive wines.

Apolloni’s description for its 2012 Dolce Vino Viognier couldn’t have phrased it better when they labeled this dessert wine as “candy for adults.” The nose is very soft and slightly buttery, but the body of this Viognier ice-wine tells a different story. A honey sweet rush splashes across your palate with a wild medley of fruit notes, including cherry, lemon, plum, blackberry, apple and cranberry, and a lingering spice of cinnamon and clove. You’ll be tempted to inspect the bottle to see if there’s a tiny slice of fruit pie slowly infusing this sweet treat.
