Anchorhead Coffee Hopped Cold Brew

by | Sep 7, 2015

Cold brew coffee is becoming all the rage in the Northwest—heck, even Starbucks is carrying it now. Duvall, Washington-based Anchorhead Coffee has released a new twist on the drink with their Hopped Cold Brew, which uses fresh Citra hops in the company’s fair-trade house blend, Narwhal. This take on a flavor combination usually reserved for beer seems both bizarre and familiar; in any case, the result is highly enjoyable.

Anchorhead steeps the hops in unsweetened Narwhal cold brew, a drink that, on its own is, smooth, with very little lingering bitterness. The Citra hops contribute an interesting dimension to the coffee with their signature citrus tang. Overall, the result is an incredibly drinkable, refreshing beverage that works well on its own, straight out of the bottle, or (per Anchorhead’s suggestions) in egg nog, coffee liqueurs, and other cold-weather drinks.
