Alaskan Brewing Company Big Mountain American Pale Ale

by | Feb 19, 2015

Pale ale doesn’t always bring to mind the word “complex,” but Alaskan Brewing Company’s Big Mountain American Pale Ale does just that. While classically crisp and refreshing, Big Mountain ties three domestic malt varieties together with three additions of hops and two more of dry hops to build layer upon layer of flavor, each new one overlapping the last.

The resultant coppery 5.7 percent ABV brew is beautifully balanced, incorporating aroma and flavor elements as disparate as cedar, apricot and hazelnut in a cohesive brew that goes as far as to give a nod in the direction of a light amber or red ale.
