Cinder Wines Dry Rosé

Born and bred in Boise, Melanie Krause started her love of agriculture in her parents’ garden as a child. This love took her all the way to Washington State University to achieve a degree in biology (and Spanish to boot) and soon thereafter dig back into her roots of plant life. She worked as a vineyard technician at Stimson Lane (now Stimson Estate Cellars in Chateau Ste. Michelle‘s Washington brand portfolio), which lead her to an enologist and assistant winemaker position at Ste. Michelle’s Canoe Ridge Estate Winery. From there, Krause decided to reroute and get back home to Boise, bringing her husband and enology skills back with her to start a wine consulting firm then in 2006. The two then launched Cinder Wines with only a few barrels of Syrah and Viognier. Today, they are slowly taking over the building Cinder first opened at in Garden City, Idaho, and expanding their production dedicated to Snake River Valley fruit, including their 2013 Dry Rosé.Sold as the “answer to the sizzling hot days of a Boise summer,” the Cinder Dry Rosé is 100 percent Syrah from the Williamson Vineyard in Caldwell, Idaho, and the Skyline Vineyard in Nampa, Idaho. Exhibiting aromas of non-fruit tones up front like earth, meat and savory herbs, the fruit is coaxed out with air as strawberry rhubarb and watermelon. The palate matches the fruit and herbs, finishing crisp and juicy.
