Have you ever tasted a Lambic or Abbey? What about a Witbier, Dubbel, Tripel or Saison? These are all Belgian beers, and it’s the yeast that makes Belgian beer flavors and aromas unique. Attend the fifth annual Belgianfest, hosted by the Washington Beer Commission, on Saturday, Feb. 1, to try these special strains and learn more about the fascinating history behind them.
More than 90 varieties of Belgian beer from 42 Washington breweries will be showcased in the festival at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center at Pier 66 on Seattle’s waterfront. You can expect to try beers with distinct flavors such as citrus, vanilla and clove that were originally brewed by Belgian monks in the Middle Ages. Learn about the rich history while you drink!
The Washington Beer Commission aims to promote Washington beer and breweries through yearly festivals and uses proceeds to market local craft breweries.
Two separate sessions will be offered from noon-4 pm and 5:30-9:30 pm. Tickets are available online for $35 or $40 at the door and include a tasting glass and 10, 4oz samples.
