Washington’s Snohomish Valley is home to several fruit-focused distilleries, one being Dark Moon Artisan Distillery that not only produces a vodka from apples but also an apple-based vodka enhanced with apple cider. The Apple Knocker is a 40 proof vodka, juiced with cider, with flavors and aromas of pure apple juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla—ultimately fall in full force. This weekend, the small-production Dark Moon joins up with a handful of local wineries and distilleries to ring in the season through the annual Festival of Pumpkins. Tasters will toast with their products during the annual “Pumpkin Hurl and Medieval Faire,” as pumpkins are launched into the air while knights “battle on horseback” and nosh on food truck grub.
