Dividing and conquering from one end of the main town strip to the other, Leavenworth, Wash.’s Icicle Brewing Company also owns the Bavarian town’s only legitimate beer-hall, München Haus Bavarian Grill & Beer Garden. The Brulotte family started both operations at the turn of the century, so as fourth generation Yakima Valley hop growers so it only makes sense they dominate the Bavarian town 90 miles north. With six regular brews on tap, Icicle’s Khaos Kolsch might be the most quintessential Leavenworth brew. Granted, it’s a German-style ale in a German-style village, but this beer is crisp and refreshing, aromatic with flavorsome with toasty and caramel malts and mandarin orange fruits that transfer onto the zesty and buoyant palate. Prost!
