This weekend, Locust Cider is participating in their NINTH Seattle Hydrocephalus Walk at Magnuson Park in Seattle, and they invite you to join them, physically or digitally!
The daughter of Jason Spears, founder and president of Locust Cider was born with Hydrocephalus, an incurable brain condition, just one month before the cidery was born. Hydrocephalus is a chronic neurological condition that is incurable and only treatable with brain surgery. Lucy has had 5 surgeries, still at the young age of 9. Over 1 million people in the US suffer from Hydrocephalus. He decided when Lucy was born that his company could be a part of helping to find a cure and improve the lives of people with Hydrocephalus. So Spears established a partnership with the Hydrocephalus Association (HA), a national non-profit. Since then, they have raised over $100,000 for their fight.
Every can of cider they sell includes a note explaining that a portion of the sale goes the Hydrocephalus Association. The funds raised is put to great work in research to find a cure, and in programs that improve the lives of those with the condition.
Clearly, this is a very personal and important cause to Jason, and they would love your support. If you can join the walk this weekend, that would be amazing!! If not, sharing the message would mean a lot to their family. Awareness is key, and the more people know, the more they can build the resources to find a cure.
