Limited-edition Cans Give Everyone a Chance to Take Home the Gold

100 golden cans will be randomly included in new Original Gold 6-packs

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — August 13, 2024 — Portland Cider Company has packaged its most-awarded cider, Original Gold, in 6-packs for the first time. And in honor of its 2024 International Cider Cup trophy, 100 commemorative special-edition golden cans will be randomly included in the 6-packs for lucky cider fans to discover.

Original Gold has earned more than a dozen gold medals in national and international cider competitions, including the top prize at the International Brewing and Cider Awards this past May in the United Kingdom. Since it was first released in 2013 as one of the company’s first two flagship ciders, Original Gold (previously known as Sorta Sweet) has been wowing judging panels and casual cider fans alike with its semi-sweet, fresh-apple taste. The cider is refreshing and effervescent, balancing the higher levels of natural residual sugars with just the right amount of tartness.

“The years-long streak of gold medals for Original Gold says a lot about its appeal to judging panels, and we think it’s an easy favorite for any cider fan,” said Jeff Parrish, co-owner of Portland Cider. “Introducing the 6-packs makes this classic, award-winning cider more accessible to both retailers and shoppers, helping Original Gold find its way to more patios, happy hours and dinner tables throughout the West.”

This classic, semi-sweet cider contains a very sessionable 4.5% ABV, and pairs well with barbecue, spicy foods like curry, and hearty summer salads. 12-ounce 6-packs and 16-ounce 4-packs of Original Gold are available at select retailers and at Portland Cider’s taprooms. Locate your next cold beverage with the company’s handy Cider Finder.
