Reveling in the summertime in Red Mountain.
From the terrace of Col Solare Winery in Tri-Cities, Wash., watch as the sun descends over an endless picturesque field of grape vines, through the Yakima Valley, and under the Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountains. On this warm May evening during Memorial Day weekend, wine lovers will come together to kick off summer events one month early at the fifth annual Revelry on Red Mountain.
This event marks the beginning of the Auction of Washington Wines’ series of summer events to take place throughout the Evergreen State. Proceeds from these events will go towards supporting uncompensated care at Seattle’s Children’s Hospital, and viticulture and enology research at Washington State University.
Uncorking will start at Col Solare Winery at 6 pm on Saturday, May 25th. Guests will be invited to join 24 winemakers from across Washington to enjoy their new releases, nibble on bites from Olive Marketplace & Café’s Jake Crenshaw and get a chance to place bids on promisingly exciting items.
After the night of sips and mingles, Revelry on Red Mountain will power on through the weekend for the first time ever. Starting at 10:30 am the following day, guests will spend some time getting tangled in the vines on the Vineyard Walking Tour with Red Mountain’s own growers. Here, they will get an intimate experience learning about the techniques, vines and terroir from Kiona Vinyards & Winery and Jim Holmes of Ciel du Chevel.
For lunch, guests will then head to Fidelitas Wines, where owner Charlie Hoppes will accompany them in a fresh feast straight from the local farms. To complete the weekend, guests will take place in a comparison tasting hosted by one of Red Mountain’s more seasoned wineries yet to be announced.
Tickets to Saturday evening are $95 each and $195 for the entire weekend. Guests can only attend Sunday’s Vineyard Walking Tour with the purchase of Saturday.
