Fire? Gig Harbor, Wash.’s 7 Seas Brewing won’t be held back by no stinkin’ fire! Although flames in the building did push the brewery’s launch back six months for their 2008 opening, but they’ve been fueled and blazing hot ever since. One of the first breweries in Washington to bring back the can, 7 Seas also strives to produce the “Ultimate Proper Pint”—a true 16-ounce pint in a can—and steer clear of conformity. Apparently so, shameless naming their double India pale ale “Ballz Deep.” Rowdy and robust, the Ballz Deep IPA has aromas of sweet malts and resin, with floral hops, orange marmalade and toffee. The flavors are equally round with caramel maltiness, but balanced with a crisp, hoppy bitterness of a piney and citrusy finish.
