Perk up those midwinter blues with an opportunity to get out of the house this February to support the LGBTQ community and wet your whistle at a local event. Portland’s first LGBTQ wine, beer and spirits festival, THIRST Fest 2014, will take over the Tiffany Center in downtown Portland, Feb. 7-8.
This two-day weekend event, organized in support of the Cascade AIDS Project and the LGBTQ community, will showcase “some of the newest alcoholic beverages hitting the glass” from more than 40 craft distilleries, artisan breweries and select wineries. Enjoy drink sampling, competitions and the chance to taste new cocktails many attendees may never have heard about. The LGBTQ community and its allies will experience and influence the latest trends in mixology as event-goers, and will be able to chat with local and national winemakers, distillers and brewers about the newest and best products.
Don’t forget to join in the competitive fun and watch the 1st Annual THIRST Fest Battle of the Bartenders Cup to cheer on some of Portland’s best bartenders as they create unique drinks for a win in front of local celebrity judges.
When you’ve seen all you could see, and sipped every drink you could sip, you’ll have the chance to support your favorite wine, beer and spirit by purchasing and taking home items straight from the vendors themselves.
