Silk Road Gen Mai Cha Green Tea

by | Mar 3, 2014

Though I’m a multi-espresso daily kind of girl, I’m also a keen tea appreciator, even though a green one (and I’m not talking green tea). Tea, like wine, is an infinite subject, and with both intoxicating drinks I often feel like I’m on a knowledge adventure.

Victoria’s Silk Road Tea is where I go for guidance on my tea journey. The calm and tranquil realm of Tea Master Daniela Cubelic is airy and bright, while packed with fragrant, delicate and potent teas (and all accompanying accoutrements) for every taste. One of my go-to favorites is the unique Gen Mai Cha green tea, and I delight in seeing it on savvy restaurant lists dotted around Victoria and Vancouver. The mildly earthy Japanese green tea is flecked with tiny puffs of roasted rice, resulting in a smooth, mild, nutty, popcorn-imbued tea finishing with a light sweetness.
