Seven Coffee Roasters-Sumatra Mandheling

by | Jul 13, 2015

Tucked in between long standing brick residential homes in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood is Seven Coffee Roasters Market and Café. What used to be one of Seattle’s oldest markets, Boulevard Grocery, is now a quaint treasure box café serving up a mix of treats and coffee. Adorning the walls are murals and a patchwork of paintings. Shelves and fridges are spaced around the café, reminiscent of the building’s grocery store past, and are filled with a collection of jams and wine, tea and other local snacks. Beneath a suspended wooden kayak are a small handful of tables and chairs, and of course, the coffee bar. On nice days, part of the café wall folds up so customers can sit at a large wooden bar and smile at passer-byers on the sidewalk.

The Sumatra Mandheling, like all of their coffees, is roasted daily in Ballard. It is a medium-bodied roast with a full, smoky cedar flavor, which is balanced by a crisp cool-off from a hint of cucumber. The coffee has a dark chocolate finish, providing a sweeter finish to a strong and bold blend.
