Fish ‘N’ Sips at the Naramata Bench Summer Tailgate Party

by | Jul 18, 2013

When I think of summer days in the 70’s, Led Zeppelin is playing from a car somewhere by a lake on a warm day while a keg is being rolled out and people begin to gather. Whether this actually ever happened or it’s the result of too much “That 70’s Show” and “Dazed and Confused,” is a totally different story. But whether it’s reliving those times or reveling in an unlived-in nostalgia, this summer event is a surefire throwback.

Enjoy an evening picnic as the sun sets over the Okanagan Lake at Naramata Bench Wineries Association’s annual Tailgate Party. This year’s theme is a classic 70’s picnic on the beach with friends, wine, food and music.

The evening will include 24 Naramata Bench wineries pouring their new summer and fall releases. The range of wines will then be paired with gourmet Ocean Wise seafood offerings prepared by seven chefs from restaurants in the area.

A shuttle will get guests safely from Penticton to the event, and make sure they get back to their cars safely as the evening comes to a close.

A few of those pouring the evening’s sips will be Kettle Valley Winery, Therapy Vineyards, Poplar Grove Winery, Howling Bluff Estate Wines and Lake Breeze Vineyards.

Touting the Ocean Wise logo to ensure sustainable and ocean-friendly seafood, meals will be prepared by such restaurants as The Bench Market, Vanilla Pod and Red Rooster Winery’s The Pecking Room.

Through all this, live music will provide the effervescent backdrop for an evening spent dancing under the stars on a moonlit night.

In the words of Robert Plant, “Dancing days are here again.”

Saturday, Sept. 7 || 6:30 – 9 pm || Manitou Park Naramata, BC || Tickets: $89 ($95.55 after charges)
