Brown Sugar Whiskey Cake Recipe with Warm Caramel and Vanilla Notes

by | Nov 6, 2024

Cozy up with a slice of this cake and a mug of your favorite warm drink. Molasses notes from brown sugar shine through, along with warm caramel and vanilla, thanks to the addition of Vanilla Bean Bourbon from Browne Family Spirits. Prefer another whiskey? Make an even swap and use that instead.

Ingredients

For the cake

½ cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
½ cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons Browne Family Spirits Vanilla Bean Bourbon

For the whiskey glaze

1½ cups powdered sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon milk
3 tablespoons Browne Family Spirits Vanilla Bean Bourbon

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Mix in the eggs and then the oil. Add the vanilla extract, milk and whiskey, gently mixing until just combined.

Pour the batter into a greased Bundt cake pan and bake for 28 minutes. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to fully cool.

To make the glaze, whisk the powdered sugar, brown sugar, milk and whiskey until smooth. Place the cake in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill before glazing. Once the cake has chilled, pour the glaze over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
