Robert Ramsay Cellars 2011 Mourvedre

by | May 28, 2014

With a Rhône varietal focus from the warehouses of Woodinville, Wash., Robert Ramsay Cellars strives to partner with growers of the same vein. Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre are the ABCs of Robert Ramsay’s wine alphabet, stepping out of line just a handful of times a strong Cabernet Sauvignon and a unique Priorat-style red blend. Now with a new tasting bar on the top of the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, Robert Ramsay is taking their wines to a broader market. A true crowd pleaser from the warehouse to the wine bar is the 2011 Mourvedre. 100 percent varietal from McKinley Springs in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills, the aromas are powerful with raspberry, sharp spices, earth and fresh cracked peppercorn. The palate highlights the tart, vibrant red berry and dusty mineral flavors, balancing between fruit and acid, touching on soft tannin for a smooth and spicy finish.
