When British Columbia’s craft beer judges, journalists, cicerones and connoisseurs get together to celebrate the province’s finest craft beers, they don’t just hold a festival—they throw an all-out awards ceremony. The 4th Annual British Columbia Beer Awards and Festival features BC’s top in craft brewing, commemorating the best of the best at this one-day only event.
Featuring more than 30 craft breweries from the province, the BC Beer Awards and Festival is a celebration of handcrafted, artisan beverages, all being judged and honored for their innovative and uniquely crafted quality. Bringing together a collection of experts and craft beer lovers, the BC Beer Awards and Festival is one of the most highly anticipated craft beer festivals in the lower mainland.
This year the event features new attractions including the Hops Connect Hops Class: a one hour session of sampling, demonstrations and industry expert Q&A, led by CAMRA Vancouver’s Education Liaison, Danny Seeton. Event-goers interested in a more interactive look (and taste) into BC’s craft brewing scene may purchase the VIP Package, which includes an expert guided 90 minute tour through a featured assortment of celebrated BC craft brews, priority admission, tasting glasses, a custom tasting guidebook and beer sample tokens to be used during the tour and festival.
All breweries featured at the festival, including 2012 winners Steamworks, Vancouver Island Brewery, Townsite Brewing and more, will be judged using the internationally recognized Beer Judging Certification Program (BJCP) and those of which stand above the rest by wowing the judges will receive honor for their quality brews during the awards ceremony.
