Valhöll Brewing Golden Warrior Ale

by | May 22, 2014

With a population of roughly 9,400 people in the town of Poulsbo, Wash., this community is giving a few others a run for their money for the title of “Brewtown U.S.A.” Designating this label by measuring breweries per capita, Poulsbo has three for their ‘burb, including Valhöll Brewing. Owned and operated by local suds aficionados Jeff Holcomb (head brewer), Jordan Rodgers (brewer) and Aaron Kallio (sales director), Valhöll attributes much of it success to the residents of Poulsbo that come and drink it on the regular at their tap room. A true microbrewery, these boys that brew plan to only brew more and brew more often. Several staples stake claim on the tap handles but many seasonals and rotators file through, Valhöll also pays its respects to the basics—like their Golden Warrior Ale. Built on the formula of two malts and one hop, this is a straight-forward, crisp and sessionable ale meant to bridge the gap between “yellow beer drinkers” and the rest of the craft world.
