Introducing the Daily Sip, our day-to-day suggestions for how to spend your waking hours in the world of libations, from juice and tea to wine, beer and more.

CIDER TUESDAYS: Wandering Aengus Ciderworks 2011 Bloom

Inspired and named after a poem by William Butler Yeats about the love of a girl with an apple blossom in her hair, Salem, Ore.’s Wandering Aengus Ciderworks produces a handful of ciders under the label as well as a few more under their new-age Anthem Ciders line. The 2011 Bloom is a medium-sweet cider that is produced from a blend of the tricky-to-procure heirloom variety of apples from orchards in both Hood River and Culver, Ore. Fruit-forward and fleshy, the vibrant apple and pear aromas and flavors are undeniable but the tropical fruit tones of pineapple and passionfruit reveal themselves as well in the honeyed finish yet brisk finish.
