Lariana Cellars 2014 Viognier

by | Sep 23, 2015

Though Osoyoos, British Columbia micro-producer Lariana Cellars may be new to the scene, they’re making themselves known with their serious approach. Whole cluster pressing and fermentation in concrete eggs and older French oak adds some textured complexity to the 2013 Viognier, made in consultation with winemaker Senka Tennant, of Terravista Vineyards. This wine shows lime, peach fuzz and green apple aromas. Apricot picks up on the medium palate, along with dried sage, green apple, bitter melon, mandarin and lemon pith. A narrower, focused style of Viognier, with hints of tropical perfume peeking out. Well-handled and interesting—a winery worth keeping an eye on in future.
