We Dig: Holiday Hooch, Round Four

With Christmas just one day away, we wanted to give our party planners a few more holiday drink ideas. Here are some festive cocktail recipes that will set off your holiday bash without a hitch.

Cafè 56, part of Elliott’s Oyster Bar in Seattle is an outdoor oyster bar that knows holiday cocktails and shares their recipe for Holiday Rum Punch. You can mix up a single cocktail or throw together a party size pitcher of this spiked holiday punch.

Holiday Rum Punch

Single Serving Party Size Pitcher
1 ½ ounces Appleton V/X Jamaican Rum 3 cups Appleton V/X Jamaican Rum
½ ounce Clear Creek Cranberry Liqueur 1 cup Clear Creek Cranberry Liqueur
½ ounce Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao 1 cup Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
⅔ ounce fresh lemon juice 1 ¼ cups fresh lemon juice
¼ ounce simple syrup 1 cup superfine sugar
3-4 ounces soda water the peels from seven oranges
2 dashes Angostura Bitters 7 cups soda water
2 orange peels

 

For the single serving, muddle orange peels and simple syrup in a double rocks glass or mug. Add ice and remaining ingredients, stir and enjoy!

For a party size pitcher, muddle the sugar and orange peels for about 3-4 minutes in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and leave at room temperature overnight. Pour contents into a large punch bowl and proceed by adding: rum, cranberry liqueur, Curacao, lemon juice and soda water. Stir to combine and add a large block of ice and the fresh orange slices. Let chill for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with Angostura bitters.

Tableau Bar Bistro in Vancouver, BC, shares their recipe again for us named after a classic holiday song. But, this one’s not for kids. GIN-gle all the way! combines cranberry and gin to festive cocktail full of flavors reminiscent of the season.

GIN-gle all the way!

1 ½ ounces Bombay Sapphire
½ ounce Martini Bianco
½ ounce peppermint liqueur
1 ½ ounces white cranberry juice

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a cocktail glass leaving the ice chips in the glass. Garnish with frozen cranberries.
