Pouring a glass of Fruit Loop wines
As the saying goes, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” The same goes for when life gives you land with great fruits—make wine. The Hood River County’s Fruit Loop has always been known as a region for producing nature’s best fruits, and award-winning winemakers have taken note of that.
Now with nine wineries calling the Fruit Loop home, they are joining in the annual summer celebrations with the Wine Celebration running June 22–23. Wine lovers will have the opportunity to the tour vineyards and wineries while tasting wines from each.
Along with tasting, take advantage of the special sales available this weekend only. Head to Wy’East Vineyards and purchase any bottle of wine to receive the second for half off. Other wineries offering special discounts this weekend will be Hood River Vineyards and Pheasant Valley Winery. Another benefit of Hood River Vineyards is the selections of choices. Of course, there will be offerings of their whites and reds, but they’ll also be serving up their hard ciders, ports and sherries to taste.
At Mt. Hood Winery, enjoy the view from their scenic patio overlooking Mount Hood and the vineyards. To celebrate the weekend, this winery is bringing in SmOkin’ John’s BBQ for the food to go with their 2013 wines they’ll be offering to taste.
But wine won’t be the only thing to celebrate this weekend. With events going on throughout the Fruit Loop, there will be things for the whole family to enjoy in and have fun at. From flower-picking at Rasmussen Farms to taking in the relaxing scents at Hood River Lavender and searching out finds at the Wearable KnitWits Trunk Show, easy joy won’t be hard to find.
