The Daily Sip: Fremont Brewing 77 Select Spring Session IPA

by | Mar 14, 2013

Welcome to the Daily Sip, our day-to-day suggestions for how to spend your waking hours in the world of libations, from juice and tea to wine, beer and more.

BEER THURSDAY: Fremont Brewing 77 Select Spring Session India Pale Ale

Remarkably lower in alcohol for an American IPA (4.0% alcohol by volume), the men behind Fremont Brewing have released a spring session ale for the IPA-obsessed Northwestern palate, with half the hangover. As a nod to Seattle’s original breweries, Horlucks & Sicks Brewing Companies (the predecessors of Rainier), and their flagship beer the 66 Select, the 77 Select is made with seven select ingredients and “Fire Brewed” to create a crisp, bright and sessionable ale to enjoy several of. Holding only a fraction of the weight of its big brother IPAs but with all of the pine and citrus aromas and hoppy, malt-backbone flavors, the 77 Select lives up to its IPA nomenclature.
