Tacoma Brewing Penalty Session IPA

by | Oct 3, 2013

Tacoma Brewing Company puts a new meaning behind a startup brewery. Last winter, Morgan Alexander took his miniature operation to a larger level with Kickstarter, the world’s largest online funding platform for creative projects. In 34 days, Alexander’s campaign raised $6,731 with 116 “backers” who donated to help get the brewery to a bigger production level. Still sporting nanobrewery status, Tacoma Brewing has been able to produce more beer for the thirsty people of Tacoma and through a pop-up tasting room at the Amocat Cafe. With seasonal rotators and a set list of beers made that would make a Dave Matthews Band concert seem short, Alexander’s IPAs rock the hardest. The Penalty Session IPA (a sessionable spin on his Penalty Kick IPA) is a citric explosion of hops and grapefruit, from start to finish. However, the alcohol is kept reasonably low so this hop-tastic ale is approachable and easily quaffable.
