Rustic Roots Iced Orin Cider

by | Nov 26, 2013

The Harker (nee Manery) family settled in the Similkameen Valley in 1888, just 17 years after British Columbia became Canada’s 6th Province. The farm that the winery is currently situated on has been in the family for 5 generations, (raising the 6th) and has hosted a variety of different enterprises ranging from dairy, cattle rearing, farming and now a winery that also produces iced cider. Rustic Roots Wine is a sustainable family operation is well known throughout BC for their organic farm, supplying numerous restaurants and grocery stores with their coveted, high quality produce. Iced Orin is one of the organic orchard fruit wines they produce, this from the rarely seen Orin apple. Here the crisp apple is turned into a sweet dessert wine, reminiscent of apple pie in a glass: baked apples, holiday baking spice and bright acidity. Pair with your holiday pie or, my choice, some sharp cheddar cheese.
