McMenamins Ruby Ale

by | Apr 24, 2014

They say each McMenamins brewpub has its own disposition—although the recipes are the same at all of the properties, the beers themselves are individual in their own right at their own location. Known in the hospitality world for their eclectic accommodations that typically sport numerous beverage production sites (brewery, winery, etc.), Oregon’s McMenamins pubs, breweries and hotels are unique every time. So goes the same for their beers—take the Edgefield resort’s take on the McMenamins Ruby Ale. Brewed on-site at the Troutdale, Ore., hotel, the ruby has been made since 1986. A raspberry ale comprised of Chinook hops and pale malts, 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is also used in every batch. Effortless and straightforward in raspberry ice cream, the mouthfeel is fruity and crisp, light-bodied and tart with a lingering fresh raspberry flavor.
