Double Mountain 2013 Tahoma Kriek Belgian-Style Sour Ale

by | Sep 11, 2014

Hood River, Ore.,’s Double Mountain Brewery gets sour with their seasonal series of Kriek ales, the lambic Belgian style beer made with Brettanomyces wild yeast and fresh fruit picked cherries from Double Mountain’s estate orchard. Brewed once a year with a vintage labeling and a year in bottle before release, the 2013 Tahoma Kriek Belgian-style Sour Ale combines Rainier cherries into a strong Belgian blonde ale. The sharp, tart aromas of orange rind, pickled stone fruit and Rainier cherries are softened with notes of brioche, yeast and cherry pie. On the palate, the beer is equally bright and honed, reminiscent of cider, with a juicy mid-palate and a crisp, clean and zesty finish.
