Red, White and Drink: 5 Sips for the Fourth

by | Jul 3, 2018

The Fourth of July is (almost) here, which most likely means two things: sunshine is finally RSVP-ing “yes” to the party (fingers crossed this doesn’t jinx it); and you have the day off to relax and celebrate with loved ones. You know the drill – celebrating requires a beverage in hand. Whether you prefer a casual ale, a classy cocktail, or something in between, you deserve a drink as extraordinary as the fireworks show. This summer we’re all about light sips, fruity finds and citrus, so grab your favorite and let freedom ring.

Brian Carter Cellars 2017 Abracadabra Rosé, Columbia Valley || $25/750ml
If you prefer to keep it festive with a crisp white or bold red, we won’t stop you. But red and white combined make pink (true fact) and that’s reason enough for us to favor rosé on a sunny day — even if it isn’t from blending red and white grapes together. Pour a glass of Abracadabra Rosé, refreshingly fruit-forward and packed with notes of strawberries, peaches and orange blossoms. The perfect pairing for summer salads or seafood.

Laughing Dog Brewing Co. Cream Ale || $9/12oz 6-pack
Laughing Dog’s award-winning cream ale weighs in at just four-percent ABV – a sessionable sipper to encourage a (somewhat) responsible Independence Day. After all, most of us do have to work the next day! Slide on a koozie, sit back and enjoy this traditional cream ale featuring Crystal and Pale malts.

KARMA Vineyards Methode Champenoise Brut de Brut, Columbia Valley || $60/750ml
Whether you’re hosting or hitting a party, you can never go wrong with sparkling wine. Pop the top on this Brut de Brut, apple blossom- and pear-forward with hints of toasted hazelnut flavors. This sparkler is crafted in the French traditional method and features a blend of the winery’s Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes – only the best for your crew. Pour up a round of bubbly to savor the fireworks.

Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider !Viva la Pineapple! || $8/500ml
Escape to a tropical oasis – or maybe your backyard – with a bottle of !Viva la Pineapple! This semi-sweet cider is made with a blend of Oregon and Washington apples, unfermented fresh pineapple juice and a dash of spice. It’s the summer seasonal from Portland’s notoriously spunky cider man Nat West, so drink it while you can and save your plain ol’ ciders for after the holiday.

Papa Bueno Reposado Tequila || $50/750ml
It’s not a party without tequila. Get yourself a bottle of Seattle’s Papa Bueno Reposado tequila for a smooth, refreshing cocktail. We suggest a citrusy Paloma! To make one cocktail, add 2 ounces fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, 2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice, ½ ounce agave syrup and 2 ounces Papa Bueno Reposado Tequila in a mixing tin. Add ice and shake, then pour into a glass and top with soda water. Garnish with citrus wedges.
