The Daily Sip: Tieton Cider Precipice Perry

by | Apr 9, 2013

CIDER TUESDAY: Tieton Cider Works Precipice Perry Pear Cider

“Ciders are an expression of the harvest and reflective of the fruit and the place that it is grown.” Poetically stated by third generation apple farmers Tieton Cider Works, their ciders are an expression of their estate Harmony Orchards in Yakima Valley. With 33 years of experience and a horticulture degree from Washington State University, the folks behind Tieton produce American, English and French cider varieties, as well as perries. The Precipice Perry is fresh-pressed from pears on the estate orchard and is built in the same fashion as sparkling wine. Dry and racy with acidity and tannin, the inherent sweetness of the fruit pops next to citrus tones and a surprising red berry finish.
