Estates of the Art: Red Mountain Celebrates Local Artistry in Many Forms

“For the palate and from the palette” – it’s Estates of the Art on Red Mountain, and though the AVA was established 12 years ago, this is the first time its wineries have come together for a themed event. Visitors to the region will find everything they need for a self-guided art and wine tour spanning the viticultural area and the diversity of the Tri-Cities’ regional art scene.

The event spans nine wineries over nine days, beginning this Saturday, April 6th and running through the 14th. Estates of the Art creator Wendi Warner of Red Mountain winery Col Solare saw spring as a time when people were looking for inspiration and creativity: then she looked to the potential of wine and art to provide just that. The event is designed with the visitor in mind, and hopes to challenge participants’ perceptions of both gustatory and visual art simultaneously. Featured artists and wineries have been paired in such a way that each component of the ‘exhibit’ offsets the other. Artists themselves will be present at the wineries on April 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th.

“Things to delight all the senses are most greatly appreciated by the people that realize the great care, time and vision that goes into the creation of a beautiful thing,” says Jane Pearson of Tapteil Estate. For her, wine people are just those types of people. And the beauty of Red Mountain is something that anyone can appreciate.

Assuming the success of this year’s Estates, Warner hopes to include culinary and performance arts in future years.

11 am—5 pm, April 6—14 || Benton City, WA || Cost: free gallery entrance, tasting fees may apply. For more winery and artist information visit the Red Mountain AVA Alliance’s website
