Malt Ball is back…and “not to oversell it, but this year’s Malt Ball will probably be the greatest day of your life.” Never heard of it? It’s an all-day jamboree of beers and beats cooked up by the Portland Mercury and Oregon Craft Beer, with as many bands as months in the year and breweries as letters in the alphabet.
Listen to this: Radiation City, Caleb Klauder Country Band, And And And, Sons of Huns, Old Light, Wooden Indian Burial Ground, Divers, Marty Marquis, Hausu, Gaytheist, Minden, Street Nights. They’re all going. And all your favorite local breweries, not to miss out on the fun, have been collaborating with these very bands to produce never-before-tasted brews, scheduled for tapping this Saturday. What will Sons of Huns and Gigantic Brewing come up with? How will it compare with Gaytheist’s Pink Pentagram Pale Ale? And what do Lompoc Brewing and Marty Marquis have up their plaid flannel sleeves?
Come to Wonder Ballroom and find out. The day-to-night of debauchery kicks off at 2pm, and won’t shut down until at least midnight. Beer and food pairing soirees may be all the rage lately, but Malt Ball knows nothing goes better with good songs than good suds. And when the bands are as invested in the beer as this twelve-deep ticket has been leading up to the Ball, we can’t wait to hear the tasting soundtrack they’ve got in store. Local beers + local bands = what more do you need? In Portland, nothing. It’s going to be a whopper of an event.
